Different Qualifying Life Events for a Special Enrollment Period

Individual and Family Health Plans

The table below represents a list of qualifying life events (QLE) to apply for a health insurance plan outside the OEP (open enrollment period).

Use the table to choose which life event you qualify for, and check the needed supporting documents. Please let us know if you have any questions. 

Event Definition Supporting Documents Application Must be Submitted:
Loss of employer coverage Loss of employer coverage due to voluntary or involuntary termination of employment for reasons other than misconduct, reduction in hours or coverage, no longer offered to individual’s employment class

Termination letter from employer if

you have been terminated, or

Pay stubs both current and previous

hours if hours have been reduced, or

Letter from employer stating no

longer paying for insurance
